Learning outcomes of the newspaper activity

The process of today’s activity involved buying Hindi and English newspapers from the shops and analysing the number of private and public or government advertisements from the newspaper and also finding 5 W’s and 1 H from the news stories. We analysed 6 newspapers which include 3 Hindi newspapers and 3 English newspapers, there were more private advertisements in both Hindi and English newspapers. We came across 97 advertisements in total out of which 8 advertisements were public and the rest were private. Which highlights the capitalist nature of funding that is practised in newspapers and also the lack of advertisements in public interest.
Finding the 5 W’s and 1 H in the newspaper increased my observation skills and helped me in diving deep into the story and understanding the facts in a holistic manner.
