21 April, 2024: Public Relations Society of India, Bhopal, organised a special program on the occasion of National Public Relations Day.

19 women journalists were given awards for their extraordinary work in public relations.  Additional Director of Public Relations Department GS Wadhwa received Lok Sampark Samman. In all, 19 women journalists, TV anchors and public relations professionals received Achala-Udita Samman.

The awards were given by Shri Girija Shankar, Senior journalist and Political Analyst, Padmashree Vaidya Dr. Balendu Prakash and Dr. Vartika Nanda, Head, Department of Journalism, Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University. The three guests delivered elaborate lectures on Sanatan Mulya Aur Ubharta Bharat: Jansampark ke Pariprekshya mein ( Sanatan Values and Developing India : The role of public relations) at Gauranjani auditorium of Rabindra Bhawan. 

“We should pay attention to our historical heritage and also be concerned about the problems of the deprived sections of the society,” said Dr. Vartika Nanda. She also coined a new verse, saying “PR should be associated with pyaar (love). Love towards mankind is the best form of PR.”

The ceremony was organised under the leadership of Shri Manoj Dwivedi, President and Pankaj Mishra, Secretary PRSI. 

2024: 18 March: New Delhi: Delivered a lecture on ‘Implementation of rights of female prisoners and issues relating to the children of female prisoners’ in the one week residential training programme for prison officers ( 18-22 March) organised by National Human Rights Commission (Investigation Division). 

2024: 12 March: Part of  jury with Surajit Dey ( NHRC, India Registrar, (Law) and Suvashish Chaudhary, Retd. Jt. CP for the debate competition on the theme, ‘Human Rights in Digital Age’. This was organized by Delhi Police (Vigilance Branch, DCP  Abhishek Dhania )  in association with the Commission.

2023: 10 December: Human Rights Day: Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh

December 10, 2023: A seminar on Bandiyo ke Swasthya Evam Suraksha kaa Adhikar was held at Golden Jubilee Auditorium of RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration, Bhopal. The event was organised by Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) on the occasion of Human Rights Day. Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, Hon’ble Judge, Supreme of India was the Chief Guest and Justices Sujoy Paul and Justice Sanjeev S. Kalgaonkar, Hon’ble Judges of the  High Court of Madhya Pradesh were the special guests for the inaugural session which was presided by Manohar Mamtani, Chairman, MPHRC. Rajiv Kumar Tandon, IPS (retd.), Member, MPHRC  delivered the welcome address and  Dr. Vartika Nanda, Head, Department of Journalism, Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University, participated as the subject expert.

मानवाधिकार दिवस पर आरसीवीपी नरोन्हा प्रशासन अकादमी, भोपाल में उच्चतम न्यायालय, दिल्ली के न्यायाधिपति श्री जितेंद्र कुमार माहेश्वरी के मुख्य आतिथ्य में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में “बंदियों के स्वास्थ्य एवं सुरक्षा का अधिकार मानव अधिकार” पर विस्तृत चर्चा की गई। प्रथम सत्र में मध्य प्रदेश के उच्च न्यायालय के न्यायमूर्ति श्री सुजॉय पाल और न्यायमूर्ति श्री संजीव एस कालगांवकर, अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव, गृह डॉ. राजेश राजौरा, लेडी श्रीराम कॉलेज नई दिल्ली के पत्रकारिता विभाग की अध्यक्ष डॉ. वर्तिका नन्दा और मप्र मानव अधिकार आयोग के सदस्य श्री राजीव टंडन ने भी अपने विचार साझा किया। डॉ. वर्तिका नन्दा इस सत्र में बतौर विषय विशेषज्ञ वक्ता थीं।

2023: 6-8 September: 7th ECREA Radio and Sound Conference: Barcelona, Spain

Tinka Tinka Foundation proudly represented India at the prestigious 7th ECREA Radio and Sound Conference, held from September 6th to 8th, 2023, in Barcelona, Spain. Theme of the Conference for this year was ‘Radio and Sound Ecosystems in the Platform Age.’ Dr. Vartika Nanda, the founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation, delivered a detailed presentation on “Music on Prison Radio: Impact of Tinka Jail Radio on Inmates in Sonipat Prison, Haryana, India“, in the panel on “Incarcerated sounds: Making radio within the prison ecosystem.”

During the presentation, Dr. Nanda introduced Tinka Tinka Foundation, a non-profit initiative and discussed the ‘Tinka Model of Prison Radio‘ which has created systematic prison radios in District Jails of Agra (Uttar Pradesh), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), and the jails of Haryana. As a case study, Dr. Nanda highlighted the concept of Tinka Jail Radio, its process and its impact on inmates, with special reference to District Jail, Sonipat. Sonipat is a small town of Haryana, situated close to the Indian capital New Delhi.

The captivated audience also gained valuable insights into the regular workings of the prison radio, the technical training provided to inmates, and the overwhelmingly positive response from both prison authorities and incarcerated individuals.

This conference was organised by European Communication and Research Association (ECREA), hosted by the Catalan Radio Observatory (GRISS-UAB) and the Department of Audio-visual Communication and Advertising of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain), from 6 to 8 September 2023 in Barcelona (Spain).

In addition to the recent representation in Spain, Tinka Tinka made its mark on the global stage by representing India at the first International Prison Radio Conference in Oslo, Norway, on June 15, 2022. The conference, organised by the Prison Radio Association in collaboration with the Directorate of Norwegian Correctional Services, was a historic event, bringing together participants from over 20 countries. It was aimed at facilitating global knowledge and experience-sharing on the potential of jail radio in humanising prisons and rehabilitating inmates. Vartika Nanda’s elaborate presentation included an overview of prison radio in India and details of prison radio initiatives implemented by Tinka Tinka Foundation.

ग्वालियर- यह खिलखिलाते चेहरे ग्वालियर के बिटिया उत्सव का हिस्सा बने। मध्य प्रदेश के महिला और बाल विकास मंत्रालय के आयोजित इस समारोह को श्री सुरेश तोमर ने अपनी मेहनत से सार्थक बनाया। इस बहाने मुझे भी मेहनत और ऊर्जा से लबरेज कुछ बेहतरीन महिलाओं और पुरुषों से मिलने का यादगार मौका मिला। मेरा और अणुशक्ति सिंह का पहला सत्र था। वार्ता बेहद दिलचस्प रही।
तिनका तिनका की जेल यात्रा पर चर्चा हुई और तिनका तिनका मध्य प्रदेश को लेकर अलग -अलग जेलों में जो प्रयोग किए गए हैं, उस पर भी मैंने कुछेक बातें कहीं।
हां, यह जोड़ दूं कि इस मौके पर जाहिर तौर पर तिनका तिनका मध्य प्रदेश (भारत की जेलों पर कॉफी टेबल बुक का जिक्र भी शामिल रहा और तिनका तिनका जेल का भी।
पहली बार किसी समारोह में तीन लोगों की याद को इस तरह से मुख द्वार पर देखा- इनमें एपीएस चौहान, कमला भसीन और केजी त्रिवेदी थे।
आयोजन की तैयारी पूरे मन से की गई थी। इसी ने इसे सफल बनाया

National Book Trust India (NBT-India) organized the first edition of Gomti Book Festival in Lucknow on the serene backdrop of Gomti Riverfront Park – from 29th Oct to 6 Nov 2022. Spread across more than 1000 sq.m., this book festival presented the best elements of a Book Fair and a Literary Festival with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava as the core theme, and with NEP 2020 and YUVA Scheme as the sub-themes.

2022: 14 February: Nuh, Haryana 

First round table workshop to improve the prison administration of Haryana was chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in February 2021, on the occasion of the opening of a new District Jail in Nuh district. The workshop was attended by the jail minister of Haryana, ACS Home and all the important jail superintendents  Vartika Nanda and Tinka Tinka  Foundation was given the special opportunity to showcase the progress and impact of jail radio, with special reference to Haryana.

2021: 7 – 8 October: BPR&D, New Delhi:Decadal Road Map for Prisons & Correctional Services in India: National Conference of Heads of Prisons: BPR&D

The 7th National Conference of Heads of Prisons, organized by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), MHA, was conducted on 7 – 8 October 2021 in New Delhi. The Conference provided a common platform to stakeholders from across the country to deliberate the emerging challenges in the field of correctional administration. The outcome of the Conference helped in preparing the Decadal Road Map for Prisons & Correctional Services in India.

Tinka Tinka was invited as a panelist for the opening session wherein significant findings on Indian prisons were shared. During the conference, Dr. Vartika Nanda, the founder of Tinka Tinka, also presented an audio compiling her research and activities on various jails in India.

Tinka Tinka Prison Radio is the brainchild of Dr. Vartika Nanda, founder of Tinka Tinka Foundation.  She has played a vital role in bringing prison radio to District Jail Agra in Uttar Pradesh in 2019, empowering the inmates to explore and showcase their hidden talents. The initiative encouraged the U.P Prison Department to actuate Prison Radio in 5 Central Jails and 18 District Jails. Tinka Tinka has also been instrumental in conceptualizing, training, and executing prison radio in Haryana. Tinka Tinka was also conducive to introducing prison radio in the state of Uttarakhand.
