On Sept 27, Friday, we were given 2 activities. In one activity we had to find 5 Ws and 1H from multiple articles. We had to analyse and interpret the whole article to find 5 W ( what, when,where, why and who) and 1H (how). We had to get into the meaning of the article then only we could have find it. 5W and 1H in a newspaper is essential for understanding the key elements of a news story. These elements help provide a comprehensive view of the news and answer the fundamental questions surrounding a story.By identifying and understanding the 5W and 1H in a newspaper article, readers can grasp the full context of the news, gain a deeper understanding of the events reported, and critically analyze the information. In the other activity we had to find no of commercial and Govt advertisements in different newspapers.
For eg. In A newspaper we found 11 commercial and 3 government ads with total of 14 pages. In B newspaper there were 8 commercial and 3 govt ads with 16 pages in total. In C newspaper there 23 commercial and 1 govt ads with 14 pages in total. In D newspaper we found 3 govt and 4 commercial ads with 22 pages in total. In E newspaper there were 16 pages in total with 4 commercial and 2 govt ads. From this activity we learnt about the significance of advertisements for a newspaper as it generates large amount of revenue for them. Advertisements also make newspapers appealing and catches audience attention.
