Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was probably the greatest journalist of all time. In a journalistic career spanning over 4 decades, he was associated with 6 journals, a few of which he edited.

Gandhi believed the sole purpose of a journalist should be service. He was against the concept of advertising in newspapers and believed it was immoral.

Gandhi learnt to use the written word most effectively. He upheld the highest qualities the profession could boast of – courage in the face of adversity, unswerving adherence to truth, pursuit of public causes, and objectivity.
