Reporting And Editing For Print
In Delhi University the course of Journalism is offered in a few colleges and one of them is Lady Shri Ram College for Women. And being an average student when I got admission, I was overwhelmed. It was a dream college for every journalism student.
After taking the Journalism course I realised that journalism plays a vital role in society. It is the soul which gathers , distributes and educates the public about the issue. In the last semester and this semester syllabus we studied multiple subjects which includes Print media, broadcasting media , and New media. In Reporting and editing for Print , I learnt the basics of editing, how an organisation works , and what is the structure of the Editing department. News Writing and Editing is another important aspect that we come to know, which includes headline and subheadings writing, lead writing. In REP we come to know how important Media Ethics and Law are in Journalism courses. We focused on the ethical responsibilities of journalists, such as maintaining objectivity, avoiding conflicts of interest, and protecting sources.
In the Introduction to Journalism subject we got to know about the basis of journalism such as Difference between Hard news and Soft news , Writing for print, broadcast, and new media, what are its aspects etc.
So in the whole First year we did a lot of theoretical and practical work which shaped my skills . We made a Newsletter ,before this assignment none of us have ever made a newsletter before but we tried, and got to know various aspects of the newsletter. We in the group even made A whole Newspaper which consisted of 14 pages and we even Named the newspaper and designed a logo. Now we are looking forward to more work to do so that we can become a good and responsible journalist .
