My learning during the core papers was not just confined to the syllabus but also inculcated with it the practical aspect.
While studying the papers titled, introduction to journalism and reporting and editing for print in semester 1 and 2 respectively, along with specific learning, it has been a holistic experience in regards to being a professional journalist.
From learning about the basics like headlines, subheadings, fake news etc., to hard-to-achieve skills like neutrality were instilled in us, as a batch.
Apart from the basics of the syllabus, we had many practical opportunities in the class that at first seemed like additional tasks but were adding to our skill set as students of journalism.
Activities like newspaper making and interview taking also taught us the importance of teamwork and came in as a bonding exercise along with a learning opportunity.
In my view, semester 1 was more theoretical in its dealings meanwhile semester 2 was a blend of both- theory and practical.
Regardless of the approach taken in both semesters, my learnings were indispensable.
