Lady Shri Ram College for Women, has always been a dream, coloured with wonderment for many. I was fortunate enough to see this dream turn into a reality. Years of hard work, perspiration and dedication had condensed into three glorious letters, LSR. Engulfed by ineffable ecstasy, as I entered these red bricked buildings and made my way through the exalted corridors of this prestigious college, I did not feel even a modicum of anxiety, maybe, because of the effulgent smiles and warm words that welcomed me. Even though, I was absolutely unacquainted with the place, it still felt positively familiar. In my eyes, the college is a catalyst, that is unchanging, yet it would bring forth every change in my life (for the next three years and more). The first day of college was riddled with ambiguity and tons of questions inundated everyone around me. However, within this bewildering maze of questions, all of us embarked on a journey to discover (and hopefully experience) what is so famously known as, “The Magic of LSR”.
In the limited time that I have spent here, I can safely say, that the magic of LSR exists only for those who seek it. One has to find the magic in how they spend their time here, the people they meet and how enthusiastically they contribute towards the college. Personally, the diversity and inclusivity that I have witnessed in the college have been ‘magical’. Women from all across the country, divided by differing opinions, stand united under the same roof- LSR is a perfect symbiosis of diverse energies. The professors at this institution are a significant aspect of this perceived magic, solely because their guidance, experience and passion shape the youthful women of this college into formidable citizens, who strive to excel in their respective fields. The apparent magic of LSR also lies in the little things such as the merry squirrels, spirited dogs and the innumerable birds that have made the verdant college campus their home!
In conclusion, to have a vague idea about what the magic is and what an extraordinary degree of solidarity and cohesion inspired it, is to do disservice to LSR’s great and abiding legacy. I look forward to discovering the magic of LSR and through it, myself.
