Doordarshan, a national TV network was established in the late 70s to increase the penetration of TVs in India. “National Programme” was fed to other TV stations from New Delhi. There was a time when watching TV meant Doordarshan — that too in black and white! Some of these shows have so much of nostalgia associated with it that most the folks born in that era fondly remember it as “those days”.From yore times to present day dd channels had extraordinary and indelible pictorial presentation in our mind and it had sink into our brain utterly. Even in increase no. Of private television channels but the amaranthine viewership of dd channels will never fade away. When I was kid I was very fatuous of a series called “Shaktiman”, I use to love that..also as pandemic induced lockdown started prasar bharatiyon Re runs iconic and classic Tv series like ramayan mahabharat hum log..TV broadcasts used to start with the famous Doordarshan music Till today doordarshan gives high tech coverage of national and international events.
Doordarshan carries with it the legacy and drill of 90s people. It reaches it maximum population especially in remote areas.. It have special programmes to educate farmers to uplift their workings. Village panchayats used to have TVs and they used to play it at the village centre during specific hours for the villagers to watch certain programmes related to farming, news and current affairs etc.
