Brad Pitt once said that “To leave home. It’s gotta be worth leaving”,and let me tell you that leaving my home state and moving across the country to a different state was not on my bucket list but here I am in Delhi finally embarking upon the college life. Although it hasn’t been a month since I’ve started my journey here at LSR,it feels like ages since i first caught glimpse into one of the most prominent educational institutions of our country.Already anxious and overwhelmed by my first travel experience in a Delhi bus,and finally taking in the red painted walls and lush greenery that’s going to be my daily sight for the next four years, was an equally exhilarating and exciting moment.I was nervous, that was what i truly felt as I walked into the campus laying my eyes on all the pretty and smart girls around me,backpacks slinging across their shoulders, chit chatting with their peers, a few books or binders in their hands and relaxed and joyous smiles all across their faces and I felt that I was veritably in the new phase of my life, that startling moment you realise that you are all alone yet surrounded and that you are finally own your own and you get to create the world around you as you see it fit.But despite arriving late, impulsively filling all the forms that needs to be filled and trying to find my way to the classes and worrying about the sessions that I have missed out on,i can say it with full honestly that it has been nothing but the most nerve wrecking and electrifying experience of my life here at LSR.Not only the the amazing friends that I have made here who all have been the sweetest and most understanding group of women that I have been lucky to befriend or professors who are the most honourable teaching figures or the feminine energy that wraps this campus in all of it’s glory, furnishing it with the best of talent, sizzling in the air is the passion and determination of all the young women from across every corner of the nation, the rich diversity of female friendships,it is the friendly and comforting feeling of sisterhood that colours
the environment of LSR.Whether it be the lunch breaks at the canteen where I get to try out all the north Indian food my dear friends excitingly recommend, picking upon Hindi words here and there, taking photos at the lovely lawn and spending time gossiping or sharing the most knowledgeable but relatable experiences, travelling about an hour everyday in the extreme Delhi heat which my Kerala body is only getting used to,is worth every second.I can feel myself grow, both academically and socially with the help of my professors and classmates but also as a friend,an independent individual and a participant of this marvelous community.
