In today’s world of fast technology and all available material within our immediate reach, the internet has become a very significant and valued asset in people’s daily lives.People across all age groups are now depended on the internet for various purposes and it has become an irresistible force that is constantly shaping and deconstructing all aspects of our life. Internet has become a very close pal of mine since a very young age.Peope like me who belong to the generation Z, has developed a very personal and unhealthy companionship with the internet. It has helped with my education in all levels of academia such as research, documentation and presentation. It helps to expand my knowledge system and as well as engage with people across the globe to absorb all forms of perspectives and experiences.
As a journalism student, the internet is a very relevant medium that i rely on.From the basis of online journalism, the internet is a platform that is consistently and constantly relied upon by Journalists and students studying it for content research, application and reporting. All forms of information that is relevant to the field of journalism is quite centred around the activities of internet as almost everyone has become a netizen.
But like all things, the internet too has negative consequences on it’s consumers. From minimising our attention span, deteriorating our vision, unhealthy wastage of time consuming negative and unnecessary content, misinformation, cyber bullying etc… the internet can definitely Impact the physical and mental health of people in darkened ways.It is important to utilise and consume the internet in a responsible and productive manner.
