Robert Gunning’s principal taught us about how keeping short and simple sentences can help the journalist to connect with its audience on a personal level. Using the words which are familiar to the reader and most importantly using the words which can easily be visualised into the minds of the readers. From this class exercise, we learnt how complex sentences make the article uninteresting and boring for readers and preferring familiar words over academically induced words.
