Relevance of print journalism
Print journalism: It refers to the practice of reporting news and information through printed media, such as newspapers, magazines, newsletters, etc.
Print journalism has traditionally been a primary medium for delivering news and information to the public.
It’s Important/RRelevance:
1. Tangible and lasting impact
Print media provides a tangible and lasting impact that digital media cannot replicate. It has a lasting impact as compared to digital sources because there is a tendency for a person to skip information on digital media as compared to print media.
2. Credibility
Print journalism offers a level of credibility and reliability that digital platforms struggle to match.
We often have experienced that social media and, in some cases, digital media may publish news without properly verifying the source and credibility of the news, but in the case of print journalism, there is a well-established procedure and different stages like reporter, writer, editor, chief editor, etc., and after approval of all these people and proper fact-checking, the news gets published in the newspaper.
This enhances the credibility of print media over other forms of media.
3. Can preserve it for future
We all have even once taken some screen shots and saved some files in our Google Drives or other digital platforms used to store digital information, and we totally forgot that. And I have never read that information again.
But the case of print media is totally different, as if we store some cuttings of a newspaper, magazine, or book, we usually remember them and we can access that information very easily.
4.Target readers
Print media also caters to a specific audience whose views match those of the publisher.. Many readers appreciate the sensory experience of handling a newspaper or magazine, and we know that print media is less distracting compared to the multitude of notifications and ads encountered online.
So we can say that in the world of digital media, print journalism has its own reputation and relevance
