Print journalism is one of the oldest and basic forms of media. It is a form of mass media that shares information through printed mediums, such as books, newspapers, magazines etc.
It is the best way to share the information with a large audience.
*Types*- Print journalism includes magazines, newspapers, fliers, books and periodicals.
*Purpose* – Print journalism used to inform people about things, educate them, spread ideas to them by multiple print mediums.
*Print journalism has many advantages including* :
*Credibility* : Print journalism is considered a more trusted source of information than other online ads and marketing activities. It has been around long enough to establish it’s credibility.
*History and culture* : Print journalism helps to remember the past events and other historical acts through physical records of events and trends.
*Regional news* : Local/ Regional newspapers can provide information about events that affect our own community, which national level media outlets may not cover.
*Accountability* : Print journalism holds higher authorities accountable and shapes public opinion, which is a substructure of democracy.
*Print journalism is physical* : The consumer has the material object in front of them, makes things more realistic that would not get with online/digital media. Consumer brain remembers it more clearly than some random events happening on a screen.
*Less competition for brands* : With the engorgement of the digital branding and advertising space provided by digital journalism, there’s less competition in printed journalism.
However, the actual industry has declined for the past years and has seen an even more deleterious turn due to spread of corona virus as well.
There are still many people who prefer to learn and gather information through physical materials and the print journalism is far from going inactive.
Therefore, Print media is still relevant.
