I asked my mother about the radio today-
“Vibrant vintage dials echoed throughout the day, in fleeting moments of time even the static stayed. The stations that played romantic songs were met with a glaring eye- lest my thoughts go awry. At a time when television was yet to catch on with the masses, the radio was the crux of daily life. My mother’s cooking was accompanied by Kishore Kumar in the kitchen, while for me listening to Lata Di was a given. In the morning the radio would be my father’s possession thus the daily news would be in session”.
The radio today pales in comparison to the glory it once held. Now, it lingers in the background, flickering in and out of relevance. Yet, it will always remain in our hearts as a testament to simpler, cherished times.
