/ Sunday, while standing in the busy yellow line metro, I was on my phone, searching for articles for the activity due the next day.

‘The Newspaper Making’ activity taught me working with deadlines under pressure and much more. It taught me the importance of team work and coordination, which is well required in journalism.

The practical aspect of this activity was where I had the most fun and learnt the most! Sitting together in a small circle, cutting and pasting articles made me familiar with the structural layout of a newspaper. I understood how to arrange beats according to their importance, and further how to arrange articles in those beats. It taught us that a good newspaper always strikes the perfect balance between hard and soft news. One of the most important ‘awakening’ for me was that, every news, big or small, national or international; is important! Each news has a specific place of it in the layout and thus is important in its own way.

And a learning bigger than all of this, was working in a team, understanding everyone’s strengths and just- having fun!
