Akashwani Radio, oh, how it resonated in the depths of my grandfather’s heart. After interviewing him, I got to know about how back in the day, he, with my grandmother and my uncles would huddle around the beloved radio, a trusty companion in their cozy living room. The mellifluous voice of Ameen Sayani would fill their ears, his show “Binaca Geetmala” a weekly delight. It was on Akashwani that he first heard the enchanting melodies of Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, music that still transports him back to his early married days. This cherished radio station, with its timeless tunes and comforting presence, connected him and many others to a world of beauty and nostalgia and still continues to do so.
