Akashwani, established in 1936. New generation might know it as radio broadcast but, if we ask our parents or grandparents, it was like a part of their day during their times. Be it listening to old classics, important news or iconic sports commenteries, Akashwani had it all.
My elder brother told me how excited he used to be listen to the radio after coming from school, and my sister loved to dance to the songs. I remember my father sitting and listening to daily news and the cricket commenteries, a true joy it was.
Nostalgia hits me and I too remember switching on the radio during long car rides and changing between different radio stations is definitely a core memory.
As time passed new ways of entertainment emerged, we shifted from radio and newspaper to phones and laptops, we rather prefer to read news on our phones and watch cricket matches on tv, and gradually the trend of radio declined but it is still alive in each of our hearts as golden memory of our childhood.
