Amidst roaring debates and tumultuous opinions, the newsroom is the heart and soul of any media company. It is here that budding stories are shaped into informative pieces. With its high status also comes a herculean responsibility- to ensure the credibility of each and every statement that is said or printed.
Credibility is important to foster a relationship of trust with the public. Journalists must verify all their news leads and facts before publishing them. The newsroom should prioritise transparency, accuracy and ethical standards of reporting.
The entire integrity of the newsroom holds onto this one responsibility. If there is no credibility, a journalist’s words are comparable to smoke and mirrors.
