Mahatma Gandhi was all for journalism as a fundamental tool for social change and empowerment. According to him, the media should be serving the public interest by giving the true news that will ensure justice and equality. He stressed the role of journalists as the moral compass in society, urging them to be fair and stand up for disadvantaged people, while at the same time pinpointing the downsides of exaggeration and misinformation.
He himself was responsible for his publications in which he stood for justice and dealt with social issues, and he promoted a return to moral values and the advocacy of uplifting and empowering journalism.

Gandhi’s core belief is that he is suspicious of advertisements. Mostly, he considers them as a materialistic and consumerist propaganda that takes people away from the higher moral values and their genuine needs. He thought it was possible that ads could play a part in the reshaping of the publics attitudes, thus becoming responsible for the problems like poverty and inequality in the society. Instead, he pushed for the adoption of minimalism and the practice of self-sufficiency. He insisted that people should put their morals and protection of the earth on their list of priorities over the need to commercialize their business. According to Gandhi, not only should both advertising and journalism be firmly attached to truth and humanity but , in addition , they should lead society to more just and compassionate values.
