Students of the Journalism department were given an assignment regarding finding 5Ws and 1H, number of advertisements, types of advertisement, number of pages, headline and byline a newspaper consists of on 27th of September, Friday in various English as well as Hindi newspapers.
The activity was conducted on 30th of September where there were groups of 5-6 people consisting of different newspapers.
Our group had five newspapers. Each newspaper had different contents which are as follows:-
Newspaper A – number of pages-12, total number of advertisements-25(21 private & 4 public)
Newspaper B – number of pages-20, total number of advertisements-43(42 private & 1 public)
Newspaper C – number of pages-6, number of advertisements-2 (2 private & 0 public)
Newspaper D – number of pages-24, number of advertisements-15(13 private & 2 public)
Newspaper E – number of pages-12, number of advertisements-14(11 private & 3 public)
Learning outcomes of the activity
Got to read the newspaper thoroughly and focused on various advertisements which people hardly notice and pay attention on.
Not all articles consist of 5Ws and 1H. There are articles which miss either one or two of the 5Ws and 1H.
The sense of teamwork and knowledge from group activity is the most important aspect of working in a team.
