Newspapers have been a medium of sharing information since long. To be very honest, I didn’t have much interest in reading papers because it seemed boring. It was my dad who cultivated my interest in reading newspapers- from learning to hold the big newspaper to analyzing it. It was during the lockdown when all of this began and I was very confused about which one of the newspapers I should try. Eventually, we went with “The Telegraph”. I remember how difficult it was for me to understand every column but gradually it all started to make sense. I turned from a person who couldn’t concentrate for more than 10 mins to a person who could now sit for 2 hours straight. Reading newspaper not only enlarged my perspective but also improved my memory power.
There were times when I used to cut a particular section from the newspaper and paste it in my notebook and add more points to it or note down new words to enrich my vocabulary. This was a fun activity but it all came to a halt. There are no apt reasons for it but I have made my mind to be back on this track again. Reading newspaper is an art in itself: one can learn and grasp the writing styles, innovative ideas, formats, reports on any crucial event, news from all around the world.
It’s true that once we delve into something with pure dedication no matter the deviation, we are sure to retreat and nurture it all over again- that is what I feel occurring in me.
