Localisation of news forms the crux of a successful news story. And I believe this reasoning can be attributed to two major reasons or facets of what we consider this success to actually be. If we look at it in a shallow manner, localisation of course means adjusting the content or the delivery according to the local audience, the audience which is most likely to consume the news.So from a strictly financial and logistical view point, localisation allows a news story to not only reach its “target audience” but also effectively have an impact on them and engages them which in turn makes it a profitable prospect. From a less pragmatic lens, localisation of news allows the establishment of credibility of a story, and makes it more believable and relevant to the consumers. It aims to provide them with information in a much more palatable form so that it is able to strike a chord with them and thereby convey the real message behind what the news story is actually implying. Thus, localisation of news is extremely important for establishing relevance and boosting engagement.
