Coming from Uttarakhand to a big city like Delhi, I am often taken aback when people mistake me for a Himachali. But how can I even complain when I know little about its prestigious heritage?
Trying to learn more about the tradition so that I can represent the culture better, I go on the internet only to see that, except for a few songs, very few stories from the state ever make it to the mainstream media.
Delving more into it, I surprisingly found out how the heavy rains have caused havoc in the Dev Bhoomi. I instantly remember my visit to the mountains of Kosani this summer, the entire forests burning, and yet it didn’t make headlines until it took four forest officer’s lives.
How strange that I know every detail about Trump and Kamala Harris’s debate and nothing of the land I call home. How odd and yet how remorseful.
