Television has been a source of information, education and entertainment for people all over the world. From the time I was a kid, I had been fond of cartoons and craft shows. I remember watching the show “Thomas and Friends” with such zeal and zest every morning. Shows like “Art Attack”, “Mad”, “Mister Maker” were so dear to me and these shows on the Disney Channel evoked my interest in painting and crafting. From watching nonstop movies to listening music on TV channels, we all grew up. Those were the times when every child used to eagerly wait for their favorite shows and narrate the latest episodes to their friends the next day. It somehow united each one of us. I remember how my parents advised me to watch news channels, educational channels like Discovery, History, Animal Planet. Although, I was reluctant at first, I gradually developed interest in it.
Not only shows but also the advertisements portrayed on the television influenced the audience. I used to get extremely excited with the launch of new barbie dolls and all the fascinating toys introduced in the market. Today when I look back, so many things have changed. It’s like nostalgia straightaway hitting me. The world has moved way faster with the coming of internet and introduction of Smart TVs and OTTs. Though things have been modernized, television still is a major source of information and entertainment and has the masses engaged with its shows.
