This week had many activities that were enjoyed by all. Starting off with the Viksit Bharat quiz, which was conducted in the media lab studio, helped everyone gain a lot of new knowledge on several policies of the government. On Wednesday, we talked about news agencies and their role in dissemination of news. We also talked about some of the famous news agencies such as PTI, UNI and Reuters. The topics for Thursday was ‘covering speeches’. Through this class we were able to draw the difference between lectures and speeches. There are many difference varying from the purpose of the audience to the purpose of the speaker. Speeches are however, mostly used by political or powerful authorities to spread a certain message to a wide range of audience. On Friday, we discussed about the structure of a news story, gatekeeping, bias and neutrality in journalism. This lecture was followed by discussions on these topics.
