  1. It must have been a happy moment for those women inmates who were transferred from Tihar to semi open jails. But what about those women who are stuck in the overcrowded prisons in India. From other articles by Vartika Mam, it is clear that there are only 18 prisons in India which are for women and the condition of women in many of these prisons are indeed very saddening. Even though we talk about women's rights in different fields, this is one area that goes unnoticed. Shifting a few inmates to semi open jails is only a small step towards prison reform. The government needs to take a lot more steps in the journey reformation. #tinkatinka #prisonreforms #humanrights

  2. Some women inmates were transferred to semi-open jails and that is a good news but what about others? the world's second most populous country has just 18 women jails, I personally feel India needs to have more open jails as well as more women jails. #vartikananda #tinkatinka #jail #prison

  3. Women empowerment has taken the form of women emancipation, we talk of gender equality and hope to see it soon in the society. We say prisons aren't a part of the society yet women inmates cease to have access to libraries or phonecalls because they are a part of the prison structure meant for male inmates. Women are forced to live in narrow spaces, so much that after a point of time they experience pain while walking. If the prison is different from society then why are women not encouraged for outdoor games if it is the same as society then why are the prison inmates treated otherwise? These are questions, the answers to which we may not be wise enough to have. #vartikananda #tinkatinka #jail #prison
