We commenced this week by reviewing the topics which we discussed in the class last week. We headed to the dept of Inverted pyramid where we delved into the meaning and significance of a lead , types of leads, what is the role of a lead in a news story . After that we deliberately moved forward with the difference between articles and features, their types , knowing more than their meaning, what characteristics they possess in a newspaper or media outlet, to easily differentiate among them. We finally concluded the week by being aware of what a beat is , types of beat and knowing more specifically what a sports beat in journalism refers to.
Assignments: We were asked to prepare a proper document featuring sports beat, this was assigned to the whole class.Throughout the week we were being assigned works systematically. For ex: writing about the significance of lead , sports beat in the blog. Also we were advised to collect news clippings as usual for the types of leads , features. We also discussed some of the clippings brought by a few students.
